Job activities
The role consists of the following components:-
Primary (75%)
The installation and systems configuration of KSS application software at customer sites. Working with KSS Professional Services Consultants and customer IT personnel to specify the IT requirements for the installation of KSS software and, where requested, visiting customer sites to assist with the installation and configuration of KSS software. The role will occasionally involve working with the KSS Development team to approve installation into non-standard or untested customer IT environments. Also included is post-installation second and third line support for systems-related technical queries.
The role will encompass the investigation of evolving IT technologies and configurations (such as virtual servers, web farms, clustered servers etc) with subsequent testing and certification of KSS software in pre-defined IT environments.
Secondary (25%)
Assisting the IT Administrator in supporting the KSS internal IT infrastructure, together with all related IT services, as well as the support of internal KSS staff.
Duties will include technical & application support for internal users, laptop/desktop builds, server administration, network administration, as well as general hardware and software support. The role will include illness and holiday cover for the IT Administrator.
You must be confident and have excellent communication skills, with the ability to work on your own as well as part of a multi-disciplinary team, reporting directly to the Vice President Business Development and, in the Secondary role, working under the direction of the IT Administrator.

Qualifications
Any of the following qualifications would be advantageous:
- Microsoft Windows 2003 MCP, MCSA or MCSE
- Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 and/or 2007
- Microsoft SQL Server MCP or MCDBA
- Cisco CCNA
Skills/abilities desired
The following skills are considered a pre-requisite:-
- Business software installation, configuration and commissioning
- Experience of Windows XP/Vista desktop environments, including installation, support and troubleshooting
- Experience of MS Office 2003/2007 installation, support and troubleshooting
- Active Directory- creating accounts, resetting passwords, managing group membership, managing Operating Unit membership
- Mailbox management in Exchange Server 2007, and a basic understanding of message flow and SMTP (i.e. to ascertain whether email delivery failure is the fault of the KSS mail infrastructure or the intended recipients)
- PC hardware/software maintenance- resolving a “blue screen” issue, re-installing Office 2007 and other productivity tools
- Client/server connectivity- mapping drives, mapping a printer, use of IPCONFIG
- Server awareness- how to clear a stuck print queue
- Network awareness- patch a new PC or IP phone to the network
The following skills will be considered an advantage:-
- Familiarity with Windows 2003 server and networking, including TCP/IP, DNS, IIS and the Registry preferably to a certified level
- Familiarity with MS SQL Server 2000, 2005, Query Analyser and SQL Query Language
- Familiarity of Cisco IOS, Routing, Switching and Firewall technologies preferably to a certified level
- Familiarity with Antivirus techniques and best practices
- Advanced Troubleshooting in a network server environment
- Network design, installation, upgrade and integration into existing infrastructure with an understanding of the impact of such changes.
- Troubleshooting Internet Explorer client connectivity and security issues in a multi-server IIS Application environment
- Experience of Microsoft Exchange Server 2003/2007 administration and troubleshooting Experience of PC Hardware maintenance and PC Hardware configuration is desirable.
- Knowledge of VPN technology
- Knowledge of Voice-over-IP (VOIP) technology
Team Member Skills
Must be able to work in partnership with other KSS departments and customers to understand business requirements and how they might be accommodated within the constraints of the customers’ IT infrastructure. Must also be able to work collaboratively with colleagues from other departments, where necessary, to ensure the company’s IT infrastructure functions correctly and any problems are eliminated quickly and effectively.
Initiative
Must be able to take the initiative to work unsupervised once trained, reporting key facts to the IT Administrator or VP Business Development as necessary.
Communication
A clear, concise and confident communicator, with an ability to adapt the content of communications to suit the recipient audience. Good verbal and written presentation skills. Patience and ease with less IT qualified colleagues and customer personnel is considered a distinct advantage. Must be confident and experienced in dealing with customers, suppliers and 3rd parties.
